To its many die hard regulars, the Star and Garter music venue means everything. It has been the home of Manchester’s punk, metal and indie scenes for decades and hosts some of the city's longest-running club nights. In a story of capital over culture, the home of music luminaries such as The Smiths, Factory Records and Oasis is about to witness an icon of its musical history forced to make way for the expansion of a rail terminus.
