2017 Film of the Festival winner gets UK distribution, set to be the biggest Irish Film of the year.

Cardboard Gangsters, the 2017 Film of the Festival and Best Dramatic Feature winner has secured UK distribution following its UK premiere at the Manchester Film Festival.  The film has already had a hugely successful release in Ireland and is still adding further screenings 4 weeks after its initial release.

The film opened to strong reviews and the strong word of mouth helped its box office jump 80% in its second week and is now set to be the biggest Irish Film of the year. The film stars Love/Hate actor John Connors who also won the Best Actor award at the Manchester Film Festival. 

Having been picked up by Wildcard the film has now secured distribution in the UK. Talking about the UK release, Wildcard Distribution Managing Director Patrick O’Neill said: "We're thrilled with the success that Cardboard Gangsters has had so far in Ireland. It’s really caught people’s imaginations and we’ve been blown away by the positive response it’s received. There’s been huge interest in the film from the UK so we can’t wait for audiences over there to see it."

Cardboard Gangsters is released in the UK on August 4th.
